I have done many tours literally around the world, but this tour was one of the best tours I’ve ever had, and here’s why: They truly care about the environment. My guide Archie was honest, on time, responsive, educated, and genuinely passionate about preserving the Maldives. He was perfect for the job

Our Guests Are Always Right
It was a really insightful look at the culture and environment of the Maldives, which was a world away from all inclusive luxury resorts. I learnt a lot about reefs and the huge climate and plastic challenges facing the islands. All in all, the guides and people in the group made it a lot of fun, the sea and sea life were stunning and I came back more relaxed than I’ve been for years!
One of the most unforgettable travel experiences to date. There is a whole other side to the Maldives that can and should be explored, far away from the outdated resorts holiday which produce unfair tourism leakages. Being able to experience the local islands, and the impact that local responsible travel can have on local communities and their fragile islands ecosystem was truly inspiring.
I could not have done this trip without Secret Paradise! As tourism outside of resorts, is relatively new to the Maldives, logistics/transfers/directions are still a bit unclear.
Our first trip to the Maldives was a huge success, thanks to Secret Paradise Maldives Tours. A huge thank you to Ruth for being very responsive and informative prior to us booking the trip and excursions!
Secret Paradise made this a very special day for my husband and me and we really appreciated it. I would highly recommend them to anyone going to the Maldives.
What a perfect day. Shaa was waiting at the tender boat pier for us and took us directly to our boat and off the sandbank.
We stayed on Dhiffushi and had dinner with a local family. It was such a cool experience and something totally different. We left giving big hugs to the entire family and kids.

Fun facts for World Dolphin Day celebrated 12 September. Ok so we are a day late, but who cares!!
It’s definitely worth keeping your eyes open whenever you are out on the ocean in the Maldives, as you never know when you will be lucky enough to spot dolphins. They can be frequently encountered in lagoons, channels and the open ocean within and around the atolls. The ocean is almost a super highway for them!

From snorkelling with Maldives marine life to exploring local islands, the ocean is an incredible place, but it deserves respect.

Today, we celebrate the world’s biggest fish!
This spotty giant contributes so many things to the environment, reasons that highlight the importance of protecting this magnificent creature.
These are just some of the things that we have learnt from our time with the MWSR team.
🌊 They maintain plankton populations by eating it.
🌊 They fertilise phytoplankton populations with their poo.
🌊 They’re a natural fish aggregating device; meaning they provide shelter for smaller fish species with their large bodies.
🌊 They’re a natural carbon sink, storing carbon in their body, therefore, whale shark conservation is key in the fight against climate change.
🌊 Whale shark ecotourism contributes to local livelihoods and national economy.
🌊 They’re an indicator species: the abundance of whale sharks, who sit atop of the food chain, indicate the health of the ocean habitat they live in.
🌊 They’re an umbrella species: meaning that if we create effective MPAs for the whale shark, the other animals also living there will benefit from this.

Because the Maldives is more than a place to stay.
It’s a place to connect with.
Join us on a Secret Paradise tours or cruise, and truely connect with our island home, its people, culture, local islands, food, traditions and incredible ocean and marine life.
Our experiences allow you to see more, learn more and travel with purpose.
Sometimes, all you need is a change of scenery, good company, and a little adventure to find your way back to what matters.
The Maldives has more than one way to experience it. 🌴
Perhaps your holiday includes a beautiful resort, time on a local island, cruising or a little of each.
You can spend a few days enjoying the comforts of resort life, then swap the sun lounger for island life meeting local people, sharing Maldivian food, exploring by boat and discovering the incredible marine life beneath the surface.
And for those who want to get even closer to the ocean, our conservation cruises offer the chance to spend time with whale sharks, manta rays and turtles while supporting marine conservation and citizen science.
Different experiences. One incredible Maldives. 💙
What would your perfect combination look like?
